The Chief Press Secretary to the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, CFR, has announced that His Imperial Majesty will proceed on his annual traditional Ulefunta leave on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
According to the statement, the annual traditional leave will last for seven days, from Wednesday, September 16, to Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
The Chief Press Secretary stated that throughout the Ulefunta period, the beating of drums is prohibited within Akure main town as part of the traditional observance.
He further disclosed that all roads leading to the Deji’s Palace will be closed to commuters during the period. Road users are therefore advised to make use of adjoining routes.
The statement also directed that all markets, shops and stalls around the Deji’s Palace remain closed throughout the seven-day period.
The Chief Press Secretary urged residents and visitors to Akure to comply with the directives and continue with their lawful activities without fear. He explained that the Ulefunta period is a sacred period of traditional seclusion during which the Deji retreats to pray and seek the peace, progress and prosperity of Akure Kingdom, Ondo State and Nigeria.
The palace appreciates the understanding and cooperation of residents of Akure Kingdom and enjoins everyone to observe the period peacefully.
