Akure Must Remain a Haven of Peace – No Room for Political Thuggery

No one should leave their local government in peace only to disrupt the peaceful waters of Akure. Akure is no political battleground for any politician, whether in power or out of power. Our city, the proud heart of Ondo State, thrives on harmony, not havoc – a place where politicians like Gbenga Donald Fasua build progress, not where hoodlums tear it down.

Yesterday, tragedy struck at a scheduled APC stakeholders' meeting. At the point of convergence, attendees were ambushed, beaten, and scores injured – including the party chairman himself, Engr. Ade Adetimehin. Reports point to hoodlums mobilized by an unknown faction within the party, turning a gathering for dialogue into a scene of senseless brutality.

Akure Youth Media rightly condemns this act in the strongest terms. Such intra-party violence mocks our democratic ideals and dishonors our cultural heritage. Politicians, sheath your ambitions: Akure's waters run deep with resilience, not blood. Let local government focus on development – roads, health, youth empowerment – undisturbed by factional wars.

We call on party leaders, security agencies, and Governor Aiyedatiwa to investigate swiftly, bring perpetrators to justice, and restore calm. Akure stands united: no one disrupts our peace.
